UCLA Clinches Regular Season B1G Ten Title at Thrilling Big Four Meet

Columbus, OH – The Covelli Center at Ohio State University was electric on Sunday, March 2, 2025, as it played host to the highly anticipated Big Four gymnastics meet. The competition, featuring Ohio State, Nebraska, Rutgers, and UCLA, delivered a thrilling afternoon of elite-level gymnastics with significant implications for the Big Ten standings. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as fans witnessed a showcase of incredible athleticism and artistry.

One of the major storylines of the meet was UCLA’s pursuit of the Big Ten Regular Season title, and they delivered a stellar performance to capture that goal. The Bruins displayed consistent excellence across all four events, solidifying their dominance within the conference. Their routines were marked by precision, power, and a captivating sense of showmanship. In the end, UCLA took first place with a final score of 197.200.

However, the other teams did not fail to provide outstanding performances. Notably, Rutgers produced some stand-out moments. Rachael Riley’s performance on the balance beam was a highlight of the entire meet. Her routine earned her a 9.950, tied a program record, and secured her the event title. The Rutgers beam team as a whole also achieved a very high team score. Rutgers finished the meet with a score of 195.875. Nebraska also performed very well, taking second place with a score of 196.675.

Ohio State, hosting the event, also presented strong performances in front of their home crowd. Tory Vetter was a consistent high scorer for the Buckeyes throughout the meet, displaying her all-around talent. The crowd was very supportive of the Ohio State team. Ohio State finished the meet with a score of 196.650, placing them in third.

The meet was a testament to the rising level of competition within the Big Ten conference. The performances from all four teams highlighted the dedication and skill of the athletes. The Big Four meet provided a great example of the high level of women’s gymnastics. The event was exciting and a great experience for all of the fans that attended.
