The Purdue Boilermakers have parted ways with Head Coach Ryan Walters. Walters won just one game in his second year at the helm in 2024- that being a 49-0 rout of Indiana State on opening day August 31.
Since then, the Boilers were winless, a downward spiral that saw them struggle in blowouts at home to Notre Dame by 59 points, Oregon State, Nebraska and Oregon as well as a heartbreaking OT loss at Illinois.
In Walters’ two seasons as Coach, the team won only five games and lost 13, ending with a 28%-win percentage, the worst since Darrell Hazell in 2016, who was fired after a 3-3 start in his fourth season.
Walters took over for a departed Jeff Brohm, who resurrected the Boilermakers program to a level not seen in some time, with four bowl game appearances, one bowl game win and a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game.
The Boilermakers will begin a search for the next Head Coach immediately as their fanbase has high expectations and desperately want their team back to the glory days they recently saw.
