Mad Ants hold on for huge win over Skyhawks

On Tuesday night Indiana Mad Ants went head-to-head with the College Park Skyhawks with both these teams having their work cut out for them from the start.  The Skyhawks looked to overcome the Mad Ants after suffering a loss back in February while the Mad Ants played their first game without Jordan Bell.

Right from the start these two teams attacked the court at full strength. Each team was evenly matched from the tip, going back and forth on shots and rebounds. It wasn’t long before the Skyhawks hit their stride creating a small point gap to end the first quarter.

As the second quarter started the Skyhawks would continue to expand the lead from six points to 12 to end the second quarter.  It was clear that, while the teams were matched well in a lot of ways, the Skyhawks continued to best the Mad Ants in three pointers, turnovers, and free throws.

Going into the second half the Mad Ants were able to hold the Skyhawks to a twelve-point gap.  They would continually try to cut the point gap down but the aggression the Skyhawks showed was overwhelming but in true Indiana fashion the Mad Ants pulled together and started mounting a comeback.

As the fourth quarter started, the point gap was still 12 but the Mad Ants quickly cut it down to eight. From there, they cut it down to five.

Finally, with just 3:51 left to play, the score was tied 91-91.  This is where some might say the real game began.  It became a shootout with both teams showing aggression on offense and defense.

In the end it would come down to the final seconds and final shots.  With 45 seconds left, Indiana was up by one point and as the final buzzer sounded Indiana would take the win by the skin of their teeth with a final score of 102-99.

With this win the Indiana Mad Ants will carry this momentum into their final home game of the year when they take on Delaware Blue Coats on Monday March 18th.  While the College Park Skyhawks look to turn their luck around when they take on Windy City Bulls coming up Friday March 15.
