Michigan State gymnastics kicked off the 2024 season with flair at the annual Green and White exhibition meet at Jenison Field House. The White team clinched a narrow victory in the intra-squad clash.
The vault competition saw defending Big Ten champion Sage Kellerman lead the charge, securing the top score of the meet. The White team showcased their dominance over the Green team on the bars, with Smith, Kellerman, and Tucker securing top-three scores.
Junior Gabrielle Stephen led the Green team to victory on the beam. Senior Delanie Harkness and junior Skyla Schulte contributed to the team’s success, finishing in a tie for second place.
The meet featured the exciting debut of floor routines for the 2024 season. Nikki Smith’s outstanding display earned her a second event title, propelling the Green team to victory on the floor. Baleigh Garcia claimed second place, while a three-way tie for third among Harkness, Elle Beaufait, and fifth-year senior Nyah Smith added to the day’s spectacle.
As the Spartans officially open the 2024 season at the Super 16 meet in Las Vegas on the weekend of January 5, the fans can mark their calendars for the home opener on Sunday, January 28, at 1 p.m., where the Spartans will face Iowa at Jenison Field House.
