West Lafayette, IND – The highly anticipated matchup between the no.10 Purdue Boilermakers and the no.8 Wisconsin Badgers at Mackey Arena on October 26, 2024, turned out to be a dominant performance by the visiting Badgers. Despite a sold-out arena and a record-breaking crowd, the Badgers swept the Boilermakers in straight sets (25-20, 25-23, 25-13).
Anna Smrek led the Badgers with a powerful performance, contributing 12 kills. Sarah Franklin added 10 kills, while Charlie Fuerbringer orchestrated the offense with 33 assists. The Badgers’ strong defensive effort, highlighted by 5 blocks and 53 digs, disrupted Purdue’s offensive rhythm.
For the Boilermakers, Eva Hudson led the team with 17 kills, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Badgers’ dominance. Purdue struggled offensively, hitting only .089 as a team, and was unable to generate enough momentum to challenge Wisconsin.
The loss marked a significant setback for Purdue, who had been riding a wave of momentum and had set a new Big Ten regular-season match attendance record. The victory, on the other hand, solidified Wisconsin’s position as a top contender in the Big Ten conference.
