Iowa’s Caitlin Clark told media during the week that she wasn’t anxious. Rather, she was excited and ready to play basketball as she inched closer and closer to breaking Kelsey Plum’s NCAA Women’s All-Time Scoring Record.
It’s been a historic career for Clark, who has catapulted Iowa to the national spotlight and a national championship berth last season and is the projected no. 1 overall pick in this year’s WNBA Draft. However, before that, she headed into Carver Hawkeye Arena just eight points shy of the all-time record- a record she came close to in an upset loss against Nebraska last weekend.
“I just hope they don’t stop the game,” she told media this week. And just minutes into the 1st Quarter, Clark hit a near-half court shot to break the record, scoring the team’s first eight points and putting the record to rest.
