The Purdue Boilermakers got their revenge Wednesday night defeating Northwestern 105-96 in an overtime thriller. Zack Edey let Purdue by scoring 30 points in the middle. He was beat up most of the game by the big men from Northwestern who used their fouls to slow him down, but that didn’t quite work. Lance Jones scored 26 points going 5 for 7 from three-point land for the night. Braden Smith had a double-double scoring 11 points and dishing out a career high 16 assist. The key factor in the game according to Northwestern’s coach Chris Collins was the difference in the number of free throws for the teams. Purdue attempted 46 to Northwestern’s 8 for the game. His frustration finally boiled over in the end when he was tossed from the game for running on the court after another non foul call. In the end he gave Purdue their respect for a hard-fought victory. The #2 Boilermakers are 20-2 and look forward to a tough road contest on Sunday afternoon versus #6 Wisconsin.
