Purdue wins 104-90 over Nicholls in front of a packed Mackey Areana on Wednesday night. the victory leaves Purdue undefeated in their non- conference schedule for the 4th time in school history. It was their first 100-point game in nearly two years dating back to February 5, 2020, vs Iowa.
Zack Edey leads the way with 21 points, shooting 7-8 from the field and 7-9 from the charity stripe. Trevion Williams had an impressive 8 assist with no turnovers. In fact, the team had 30 assists which is the most assist in a game for the Boilermakers since November 17.2010 and the 9th most in school history. Yes, the team was clicking on all cylinders in the victory.
Nicholls State started off quickly and built a 17-11 lead early in the first half but then Purdue went on a 20-0 run to seal the deal early in the game. Shooting 11-19, 57.9% from three-point land in the first half was the dagger that hurt Nicholls and they could never recover. The only negative for the Boilermakers was giving up 24 second chance points to Nicholls which led to their 90 points for the game. This gives Purdue some homework as the conference play begins.
Purdue is now 12-1, ranked #3 and ready for the real season to begin, Big Ten play. No.24 Wisconsin is next up on Jan.3 at 7pm. Mackey will be rocking.
