The American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs announced Sunday that they have recalled goaltender Kevin Lankinen from the ECHL’s Indy Fuel.
Lankinen, 23, is undefeated through three starts with the Fuel, posting a 2.33 goals against average and a .910 save percentage. The Chicago Blackhawks-contracted netminder stopped 27 of 30 shots Saturday night to help Indy to a 4-3 victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones. In two starts with the IceHogs this season, Lankinen has a 0-1-1 record, alongside a 3.39 goals against average and an .825 save percentage. The native of Helsinki, Finland is playing his first professional season in North America after spending the last four years in the Liiga – the top professional league in Finland. In 15 games for HIFK in 2017-18, Lankinen posted a 10-3-2 record alongside a 1.33 goals against average and a .946 save percentage, both career high marks.
Indy hits the road next week for a three game set in West Valley City, Utah against the Utah Grizzlies, beginning Wednesday night at Maverik Center. The Fuel return to Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Wednesday, Nov. 21 to take on the Toledo Walleye.
