Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck threw three touchdown passes in the first half against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, making some history in the process.
Luck now joins Colts legend Peyton Manning and Tom Brady of the New England Patriots as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to throw at least three touchdown passes in six consecutive games within a single season.
Against the Jaguars on Sunday, Luck tossed two touchdowns to tight end Eric Ebron and another to tight end Mo Alie-Cox — all in the first half.
Luck’s streak began in Week 4 against the Houston Texans when he tossed four touchdowns, which has led to three games with four touchdown passes and the other three games with three each.
In total, Luck went into halftime of Sunday’s game against the Jaguars having thrown 21 touchdowns since Week 4. Entering Week 10, he was second in the league in overall touchdown passes with 23, only behind Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs (29).
Manning first set the record in 2004 when he initially broke the former single-season touchdown pass record, ending the season with 49. He threw at least three touchdowns in eight consecutive games, throwing 33 during that stretch.
Brady threw at least three touchdowns in 10 consecutive games in 2007, the season he also broke Manning’s single-season touchdown record. He threw 38 touchdowns between Weeks 1-10.
